Marcus K2025-07-20Verified Well worth it and John was amazing! An excellent tour filled with a lot of information that is easily digestible and never boring. John took the time to explain everything in excellent detail, accompanied with his iPad to illustrate what he was talking about. Strongly recommend this tour! Laura L2025-07-19Verified Highly recommend Our guide John was a wealth if information; knowledgeable about the flora and fauna of Panama and the history and politics of the area. We thoroughly enjoyed this excursion. We were able to observe many animals in their natural habitat: howler monkeys, tamarin monkeys, bats, a variety of birds, a coati, a sloth. Spent time at the Panama canal locks and watched ships passing through and to see how the locks operate then on to San Lorenzo fort where a delicious lunch was served. It was a top-notch experience from start to finish-highly recommend! 👌 Chance19682025-07-10Verified A fun, engaging tour with a great guide! We were looking forward to this trip and were not disappointed. First, it was wonderful that they picked us up at our hotel. I'm not sure that they can do that at every hotel, but it was certainly convenient. Alonzo was our tour guide and we found him entertaining and very knowledgeable, giving us the history of the Canal and Gatun Lake and the type of wildlife we would see. Our first sighting was a sloth just off the road and the driver stopped the tour van so we could get photos. There were two groups (one going to the Canal) and our group going on the lake and to Monkey Island, so we separated and started our excursion. Though it was hot, once we were on the lake and speeding along, it was comfortable. We saw a crocodile, all type of birds, iguanas, turtles and more. Of course, the star of the show and the main attractions were the monkeys. They did not disappoint, joining us on the boat and giving you plenty of photo ops.On the way back, we made a quick stop for coffee and snacks (if you wanted) and then the van took us back to our respective hotels. This is a great excursion for a really good price. Alonso was a great guide.Highly recommended! Paul B2025-07-10Verified A truly amazing cultural experience! What an amazing experience. Jorge, our chef and instructor, was a lot of fun. He shared with us information about Panamanian culture and cooking that were invaluable. The experience of walking through the streets to the market and getting an education on the different meats and vegetables was so much fun. Then on to the seafood market where we purchased fish for the cervices' and learned about how to buy the best fish and seafood. Then we walk back to the restaurant to cook. The instructional kitchen setup was perfect, and we all had the chance to participate in the actual preparation of every phase of the meal. Then, when it was all done, we all got to eat what we each prepared. It was delicious. The afternoon session is the one to attend because it was not rushed. I could see how the morning session would be rushed. Our 4-hour session ended up being a 6-hour session due to the fantastic group dynamics and interaction with the restaurant staff. They also kept the beer and sangria freely flowing, which enhanced the experience. I highly recommend this to anyone who has an interest in cooking. Be prepared to walk. It's not a short walk to the market, then to the fish market, and back to the restaurant, especially in the heat and humidity that Panama City is famous for. This experience is worth every penny we spent on it and we highly recommend it for those who love culture and cooking. Trish S2025-07-09Verified An evening of preparing and cooking authentic Panamanian Food brings much memories for my 84 year old mom!! A must do! Our Chef was amazing! Had a great time with my 84 year old mom! The walk to the meat market was a bit much for mom, but we ubered and met the group at San Felipe Nori. The Market was fun to see the remodel since COVID. The Fish Market was a delight to see as well. The fresh food we prepared was very flavorful. The Boyo, Cerveche, and Plantain were created with so much attention to detail. An evening of laughs and good company. Thank you! Tim H2025-07-05Verified Excellent Day Trip John was an excellent guide and we had a great time on the tour. Highly recommended for a day trip if you want to see and learn about the canal, visit national parks and see wildlife. shaely P2025-07-05Verified Love it! We had a great time. Went on the locked of the Panama Canal, saw much wildlife including several different types of monkeys, sloths and birds. Saw ruins after having a nice lunch. Great way to see the Panama Canal. wildorchid992025-07-05Verified Ocean to Ocean Combo tour. Best for families! The ocean to ocean combo tour was worth every penny. Our tour guide, John, was very knowledgeable, friendly and passionate of what he does. He takes his time and we didn't feel rushed on each stop of the tour. I was hesitant at first due to the very early start having a kid with us as we were picked up at 6AM from our hotel in the financial district. However, we were the first group in Gatun Lake which is nice and quiet because we were the first group to see the animals. After about 30 minutes, other tour groups crowded the lake. We had a restroom stop after the boat tour on our way to Agua Clara. We spent time in Agua Clara because my hubby and the other couple in our group were very engulfed in watching the ship pass thru the locks. We rode a van going down on the ground level of the locks too. The Fort grounds were beautiful with its history posted on its walls. The picnic grounds were kept clean and we saw animal there too. Our provided lunch was delicious which was from a famous local restaurant in Casco Viejo. John, gave a lot of recommendations on what to do, visit, stay and eat in Panama on our way back to our hotels. I definitely recommend this tour. Cristina K2025-07-05Verified Different and excellent From the beginning it was an authentic and very well-guided activity. The host was great, outgoing, and made everyone feel comfortable at all times. The activity allowed participants to learn useful techniques to apply to Panamanian dishes and at home, in addition to enjoying delicious food and learning more about Panamanian and Latin American culture. There was also interaction with locals at the markets, which made it even more special. It was a much more local and genuine experience than most tours. ValerieS2025-07-04Verified Fun and responsible Eco-tour of the Canal Zone If you're thinking about seeing the Canal, Gatún Lake and San Lorenzo--this is the tour you're looking for! The communication was clear and timely going into the tour and John is an incredibly knowledgeable, generous and responsible guide. I was sad to see other tour operators encouraging feeding monkeys and tamarinds--don't be that person:) This is the ideal, responsible eco-tour. The day started bright and early with pick up from our El Cangrejo area hotel in a comfortable air-conditioned van to head to Gatún Lake where we explored the Monkey Islands by boat--we saw sloths, tamarinds, white faced and howler monkeys, iguanas, basilisks and too many bird species to mention. Afterward we took a break in Gamboa where were able to use the bathroom and pick up a coffee and hojaldra breakfast snack, then on to Fort Sherman and to the Agua Clara locks in Colon, where we were able to see a tanker go through the new locks. Finally, we headed to Castillo San Lorenzo protected area for a delicious Panamanian lunch and time to explore the old Spanish fort. All along the way, John offered cold water and binoculars to share and took care to guide our group toward making the most of the day--we ended with drop off back at our PTY hotel. Highly recommend. If you have them, bring along your binoculars and rain gear(just in case). Tripadvisor rating score: 4.9 of 5,
